Sisters, I give you permission to DO GOOD, DO MORE, DO IT TOGETHER .
This is the new slogan of Freedom Challenge but I see it as a call to action for women to do what we can to make the world around us better, challenge ourselves to do more than we think we can physically, spiritually and mentally, and overall, do it together to inspire and encourage the women around us to fight for justice.
Karis Williams
Who are you?
My current role is the Communications Project Manager at the Freedom Challenge – a ministry of Operation Mobilization. I have worked in anti human trafficking for 6 years in the areas of research and advocacy as an analyst.
Did you always dream of being where you are today? If not, what was your dream?
Yes, and no. I’ve wanted to fight against human trafficking since I was 15 years old and I’ve been able to combat trafficking in several ways throughout my career.
What moment or conversation changed your life?
I have had various moments. When I was 15 years old I heard about trafficking through Invisible Children which is when I knew that was what I was called to. While serving as a military police in the US Navy I worked on various sexual assault investigations. My work with child migrants along with my current role have all been steady and constant reminders why I ( we) have to continue to advocate and fight for justice for women and children.
What lesson learned is guiding you through life?
My life verse: DO JUSTICE, LOVE MERCY, WALK HUMBLY WITH YOUR GOD. – Micah 6:8
